Its official and is good news for DAE owners. RCI will be acquiring DAE, and it will now be under the Wyndham umbrella. However, RCI said it will not be merging the two companies and they will be operating separately. Both will be using the Wyndham name.
For those of you not familiar with DAE, it’s an exchange company that was founded in Australia in 1997. Its presence is better known in Asia than in Western countries. Its initial goal was to give RCI and II owners more choice when it was time to exchange their week. Although DAE has rights to some fine resorts in Asia, they were open to any timeshare owner that was willing to trade their week for a week in DAE inventory. We will update you with all of the changes and what this will mean for DAE owners as they become available.
Also trending in the timeshare industry, Wyndham Worldwide has announced it will be splitting into two publicly traded companies. As you might know, Wyndham has three divisions traded under the name Wyndham Worldwide. The three divisions consist of the timeshare division, the hotel division and the exchange division.
The timeshare division consists of Club Wyndham, Wyndham Asia Pacific, Worldmark, and Shell Vacation Club. The Hotel group consists of Wyndham hotels and resorts, Wyndham grand Collection, Wyndham Garden, Tryp by Wyndham, Wingate by Wyndham, Hawthorn suites by Wyndham, Microtel by Wyndham, Dream Resorts, Planet Hollywood, Ramada worldwide, Night, Baymont Inn and Suites, Encore, Days Inn, Super 8, Howard Johnsons, and Knights Inn.
The exchange and rentals part of the company consists of RCI, The Registry Collection, Wyndham Vacation Rentals, Landal Green Parks, Novasol, cottages4you, Canvas Holidays, James Villa Holidays and Hoseasons. There are also rumors that with the opening of new resorts in Thailand, the company will be adding Wyndham Asia to its timeshare division.
Wyndham hotel group whose main office is in Parsippany, New Jersey will make up the hotel division. It will be publicly traded as a separate company. In addition, Wyndham Vacation Ownership, which includes Wyndham Destination Network, will become the largest publicly traded timeshare company in the world. Wyndham Destination Network is home to RCI. The location of Wyndham Vacation Ownership’s headquarters is Orlando, Florida.
